Sophia Lacroix is a Haitian-born American hyper-realist award-winning artist
She prides herself in creating highly detailed, meticulous and brightly colored oil-on-canvas paintings. Her style is Realism or Photo-realism as her imagery looks realistic and true to life. Sophia paints about her homeland of Haiti where she was born and raised and aims through her market scenes and other realistic and vibrant scenes of daily life in the countryside of Haiti to transport you right into her paintings and into a nostalgic scene of the Haiti of her childhood. That is why one of Sophia's favorite comments from people who have seen her works for the first time is that "one can almost walk into one of your paintings.

Continuing Green Space Miami’s focus on elevating and preserving Miami’s culture, Flavors That Form Us features 13 artists whose works illuminate the ways communities gather, ceremonies, celebrations, and everyday rituals that define belonging. For this year's open call, we were interested in Miami artists’ perspectives on the culinary textures of family history, the choreography of shared meals, the resilience embedded in inherited recipes, and the creativity that emerges when cultures meet and mingle. Artists were encouraged to reflect on how food becomes a language of remembrance, a tool of resistance, a marker of identity, and a bridge across generations. This exhibition honors the flavors that traveled here by boat, by plane, by memory, and by necessity, and the people who continue to keep those traditions alive.

“Change is the only constant, yet its presence often slips by unnoticed. Other times, it leaves lasting impressions that shape identities and lives. The exhibition Transitions, on view from October 17, 2025, through January 3, 2026, at the Coral Springs Museum of Art, explores this enduring human condition through the work of the contemporary artists of SOBRA Collective.
Transitions features a collection of more than 30 works that reflect on moments of profound personal and collective change. Using an array of materials and processes, the artists present deeply personal interpretations of transitions that range from physical displacement to spiritual passage, from shifting identities to evolving states of mind.
Among the featured works, Rev Emigrasyon Mwen (My Immigration Dream) by Sophia Lacroix offers a deeply personal meditation on the immigrant experience. Through her signature blend of hyperrealism and symbolic narrative, Lacroix captures the emotional duality of leaving one’s homeland while carrying its essence within. The painting portrays a Haitian woman poised between two worlds—her gaze turned toward possibility, her surroundings infused with memories of home. The rich textures and luminous tones evoke both nostalgia and resilience, mirroring the complex journey of migration. In this piece, Lacroix transforms personal history into a universal reflection on belonging, identity, and the transformative power of hope.
